About AIM

Alpha Iota Mu was founded under the auspices of the International Academy of Information Management (IAIM).  In 1996, President Sheila Pechinski and the Board of Directors of IAIM authorized Indiana State University to found the Alpha chapter of AIM.

The first induction was held at Indiana State in May 1997.  Sixteen students, four faculty, and one alumnus were honored.  Spring induction ceremonies have been conducted since that time.  We have held inductions every spring since 1997, and the Chapter has grown to 41 members.

John Hopkins University (Beta) and the University of South Alabama (Gamma) were granted chapters in 1999.  In 2000, Georgia Southern became the Delta Chapter.  In 2001, Quinnipiac became the Epsilon Chapter.

In June of 2002, the IAIM Executive Board voted  to approve a affiliation/merger with Association of Information Systems AIS Furthermore, both groups voted to include Alpha Iota Mu as part of the alliance.
