The first induction was held at Indiana State in May 1997.  Sixteen students, four faculty, and one alumnus were honored.  Spring induction ceremonies have been conducted since that time.  We have held inductions every spring since 1997, and the Chapter has grown to 41 members.

John Hopkins University (Beta) and the University of South Alabama (Gamma) were granted chapters in 1999.  In 2000, Georgia Southern became the Delta Chapter.  In 2001, Quinnipiac became the Epsilon Chapter.

George Washington University is the newest member and the University of Tampa is currently applying for membership.

In June of 2002, the IAIM Executive Board voted  to approve a affiliation/merger with Association of Information Systems AIS. Details of the affiliation have yet to be worked out.  However, both groups voted to include Alpha Iota Mu as part of the alliance.
